THE 1400 is the base model in Ambience's well-established range.
With international and local markets pressing for stock, it is surprising that Ambience has mustered enough spare rime to research and release the first of two new models. Eventually, the slightly larger 1600 model, priced at $3490, will make it to local and overseas stores.
Both provide music lovers two routes into the kind of pedigree sound quality that would cost more than $6000 if the Ambience speakers were imported say, from Europe, the UK or the US. The 1400 is an eye-arresting model with a panel measuring just 21cm wide and 1380cm high. Down below is a small chamber housing an upward firing, bass/mid-range driver designed to the brand's specification.
Obviously built to work well in small to medium-sized rooms, the 1400 hit its straps in a large room placed free of wall boundaries. The sound was detailed, very quick and most importantly - tonally accurate. Weight and scale of the sound was impressive once the bass driver kicked in.
